One small event can change everything.

Have you ever wondered where your life would be if you did not make a split second decision to do something or go somewhere. This can directly influence key people you meet and the path of your life, often drastically. I like to look at this in the positive manner, where some experiences I have had have stemmed from one small decision to do something, often against what I thought was necessary at the time. Of course, “what if” are also two of the saddest words put together in the English language.

Say recently I went to stereosonic, a festival in Melbourne attracting 30,000 people. As the day wore on, my mate Aiden and I decided to eat. When I had finished and he was continuing I impatiently decided to take off and meet him elsewhere in about 30 minutes. However during this time it started raining. Our plans did not come to fruition. My iPhone battery was running terribly low on battery. Suddenly I was alone unable to sms as the network was severely blocked. So what does one do? Send a preemptive text for 30 and 45 minutes (the time it took to get a message through) to meet at a designated space. Which means one thing. Waiting around…

So whilst standing under a inflatable whale which was the designated meeting spot, I was listening to Avicci pump out Levels. Suddenly I got talking to Eamon, an Irish dude. What we had in common? Well we liked music, but both had pictures of DJ headphones on out t-shirts. He got his in Ibiza, mine in Thailand. So we made small talk and I hung with him, his mate Matt and his crew of Brazilian females (added bonus) until it was time to revisit the whale. I then brought Aiden back to meet my new friends and we all had a great night.

Myself and Aiden before we lost each other!!

This guy was friendly!

Trying to find people at Stereosonic proved difficult

What developed from this chance encounter was then a gig on New Years day called Beachball. A big thanks to Matt Viva for organising this. I met new people which has then further expanded my life and gave me a focus that music was a priority for 2013.

But imagine if I had not got lost….

We hear this a lot with love as well..

What random things have you done that have lead to positive experiences?
